Terms of Membership Categories

• Senior Member and Young Adult Member

This category is for a player aged 18 or above. It includes full playing rights, ability to book courts (outside Club Sessions), hold a key (optional, for extra fee), participate in Club organised social tennis, competitions, interclub etc and (if fully paid) the right to vote at General Meetings of the club. Free group coaching is offered to adult beginners / returners only, in their first year of membership. Occasional other coaching sessions and FIT410s (cardio) sessions are offered free to all seniors.

• Senior Couple

This covers a couple living together at the same address. Each member of the couple must be aged 18 or above and has the same rights as a Senior Member.

• Family

Family membership covers 1 or 2 parents living at the same address plus their children. This includes school children and those attending tertiary education for whom the family address is their home. One key (optional, for extra fee) and court booking code only are issued to the parents. Each parent has all the rights of a Senior Member. Each child (aged 5 to 18 years) has the rights of a Junior member.

• Junior

There are 2 levels of Junior membership: under 9s and 9–17 year olds. The age is assessed as at 31 December in the membership season in question. During the summer terms (Terms 1 & 4), each Junior is offered 1 × free weekly group coaching session. Juniors aged 9 and above also receive 1 × weekly organised matchplay session (for a small additional fee). For the more advanced and committed Junior, by invitation, weekly development squad training sessions are available in addition (for an extra fee). Holiday and winter programmes are also available for an extra charge. More details of the Junior Programme are available from the current brochure. Contact Coach Julia for more info: jual@xtra.co.nz 021 505 553 Junior members are not issued with a booking code nor a key – their parent needs to join the Club as a playing member (Senior, Couple, Family or Limited Parent) to receive these. Except at the Committee discretion, Junior members may not play at peak times in the evenings (6.30–8pm) unless part of a senior interclub team practice or other Club Session.

• Interclub

An extra fee is charged for playing in interclub competitions (whether senior, midweek or junior). This covers balls, admin and entry fee.

• Golden Oldies

Discounted rates are available for playing members aged 70 and above and free memberships for those aged 80+ ($10 admin fee payable per person only). Refer to the Treasurer for current rates.

• Limited Parent

Limited parent membership permits play only with own child or children who are current paid Junior members of the club. A Limited Parent may request a booking code and a key (optional, extra fee payable) and there is no limit on the number of times courts are used for play with their child/ren. However Limited Parents and Junior members may not play on, or book, courts during 6.30–8pm in the evenings.

• Social (Non Playing)

Social memberships are available for adults with a partner or family member who is a playing club member, or who have a previous playing association with the club. Social members have no right to play nor to vote at a General Meeting of the Club. They may use the Clubhouse, when open, and attend morning tea and other meetings associated with Club Sessions.

Court Bookings

Courts are booked via Pay2Play online system using a booking code issued to adults only. Club Sessions take priority on our courts and are usually pre-booked in our court booking system. Club Sessions mean Club organised social tennis sessions, coaching programmes (junior and senior), interclub matches and team practices, competitions and other events organised by the Club. If a booking for a Club Session is inadvertently missed or needs to be added, private members’ bookings will have to be re-scheduled or cancelled (with apologies).
